Free School
The Free School of Ursynów is an institution dedicated to students in home education, run by the Free School Foundation. Operating since 2013, the school is constantly improving their well-fare and educational system through the analysis of various models, using experiences of other, traditional and alternative institutions.
The school has implemented a democratic model: pupils can independently decide which way of acquiring knowledge is the most effective for them and in line with their interests. The school offers a wide range of development support and a wide range of activities based on interdisciplinary education, conducted by teachers who distance themselves from narrow areas of specialization. Free School education is based on multi-disciplinary projects to explore and discuss different topics connected to various school subjects. An important distinguishing feature of Free School is the mentoring and tutoring support provided to about 70 students in primary grades 1-8. The overarching idea is to support each child and their development, so that they can develop their full potential in harmony with themselves. The school desires to support and inspire the students to become autonomous, aware, mindful and empathetic people with a mature social sensitivity. The aim is to prepare children to take full responsibility for their learning process, thanks to the ability of setting goals and anticipating learning outcomes. All students of the Free School remain in HE; as a result, educators have become experts in cooperation with this group. Today, graduates take initiative to create a Free High School as a natural continuation of the education path for themselves and their younger colleagues. In Free School, there is a belief that HE is a process and a family experience; thus, tutoring for parents and the process of supporting the student are both prioritized. |
